Composer graduated from the Conservatorio Nacional Juan José
Landaeta. She also obtained a Composition Bachelor Degree from the Music
College Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales IUDEM, in Caracas.
She has been three times awarded with the National Composition Prize in
the years 1989, 1993 and 1998. Many of her works have been performed
by renowned orchestras in Venezuela and abroad, and have been recorded
for CDs. She has been director-general of Juventudes Musicales de
Venezuela and chairlady of the Fundación Orquesta Filarmónica
Nacional. Among other posts, she is the current Cultural Activities
Director of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas.
