Basic music studies, history of music and percussion at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música Juan José Landaeta in Caracas. Composition studies with Yannis Ioannidis during the yeas1973-1976. In those years, also takes Composition and Electroacustic Music courses at the Estudio de Fonología de Caracas with Professors Antonio Estévez and Raul Delgado Estévez. Under Scholarship of the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura, studies Composition and Electronic Music at the Centro de Investigación en Comunicación Masiva,  Arte y Tecnología, CICMAT in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina during the years 1976-1978. In the year 1981, ends his composition studies obtaining the Composition Diploma from the Robert Schumann Musikhochschulle Institut in Düsseldorf, Germany, under the tutelage of Prof. Günther Becker. Was awarded with the Honor Prize of the Municipality of Caracas Composition Contest in 1982 for his orchestra composition Sur, and also with the Honor Prize of the Venezuelan National Composition Contest for his trio composition Cercanos. He is a member of the Venezuelan Society for Contemporary Music since its beginning in 1975, and has been treasurer as well as full member thereof in previous Boards of Directors.
