Music Studies
Teacher, composer and orchestra conductor, joined the José Ángel Lamas Music School in 1947, preceeded by his father’s music teachings, Organist Norman Billings. There, he studied organ with Evencio castellanos, trombone with Pascual Salvato and composition with Vicente Emilio Sojo, among others. He graduated as Master Composer in 1959. Studied orchestra conducting in the Dominican Republic with Victor Tevah and Enrique García Asencio (1971). Continues his composition studies at Santiago de Compostela, Spain, with Prof. Bernardo Bernaola, and takes part in the Miguel Quero’s musicology courses (1977-1978).     

He has been Organ-Tenant at the Caracas Cathedral, Chapel Master of the San Jose Parish Church, percussionist and member to the Venezuela Symphonic Orchestra, also joining its Board of Directors. He has conducted in some Latin American countries, and since 1960, has committed most of his work to music teaching, lecturing in harmony, counterpoint, fugue and composition at the Juan Manuel Olivares and José Ángel Lamas Music Schools.
