Musical Studies:
She began her musical studies in 1954 at the Preparatory Music School, nowadays Juan Manuel Olivares Music School, to thereafter continue at the Superior Music School José Ángel Lamas with professors Inocente Carreño, Eduardo Plaza Alfonso, Ángel Sauce, Juan Bautista Plaza, Carmen Teresa Arévalo de Hurtado, Evencio Castellanos and Vicente Emilio Sojo. She obtained the Jacques Dacroze Certificate in Geneva in 1964. In year 1977 (cross-references say it was in 1973 at Santiago de Compostela, further stating: “and in 1977 [assisted] to the Music Studies Planning Course from the OAS, in Santiago de Chile) assisted to the XVI International University Course of Spanish Music’s Analysis and Interpretation, in Santiago de Chile. She is also a teacher in Biology and Chemistry graduated as such from the Caracas Teaching Institution, while starting with her conducting activities.          

She has been Assistant Conductor to the Ministry of Work’s Venezuela Choir (1950-1958), Conductor to the Miguel Antonio Caro Teachers’ College Choral Society (1953-1969), to the Republic’s General Comptroller’s Office Choir Society (1967-1969), to the José Ángel Lamas Music School’s Children Choir (1975-1982), founder and Conductor of the Ministry of Education’s Choral Society, as well as (since 1964) of the Polyphony Group choir. Was Music Coordinator for the Pope’s Visit Commission (1984-1985) and Conductor of the 1,500 voices choir that sang to His Holiness the Pope John Paul II, during His visit to Venezuela in January of 1985, occasion in which she first performed the Caracas Mass, her own composition.


She has also been Conductor to the Carabobo University’s Chamber Orchestra (1969-1972), invited Conductor to the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, Caracas Philharmonic, Caracas Municipal Symphony Orchestra, the Military School Band, the ‘Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho’ National Youth Orchestra, and to the Jamaica Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been a teacher at all educative levels. Since 1966 and up to her retirement in year 1982, she worked in the curricula planning of Venezuela’s music education. She represented Venezuela at the Rhythm’s Second International Congress in Geneva (1965), was Chief of the Venezuelan Delegation to the OAS’ Third and Fourth International Music Education Conferences, in Medellin, Colombia in 1968, and Rosario, Argentina in 1970, respectively. She has been juror to the Venezuela’s School Voices Festival in 1973, and the Venezuelan Voice Festival, 1975. Was awarded with the National Music Price in 1983 and in 1988 the Vinicio Adames Music Award. She was Chief of the Documentation and Records Department from 1985 to1986, and Chief of the Vicente Emilio Sojo Foundation Publishing Department until 1990, “intensively working in the rescue, restoration, publishing, performing – recording and spreading the Venezuelan Colonial time Masters’ music” (Recording). As part of the Vicente Emilio Sojo Foundation’s Board was the person in charge of the review, revision and edition in 1994 of the CONAC’s (National Arts Council) Federico Villena’s E flat Major Mass score publishing.        

Was a member to the Superior Council of the Board of Directors of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra Foundation.
