- "Rithmomachia" (for two pianos) of the
composer Diógenes Rivas
was performed in the ISCM Festival
World Music Days in Vilnius, Lituania, 2008, representing Venezuela.
- The Venezuelan composers Marianela Arocha and
Emilio Mendoza assisted the ISCM General Assembly within the ISCM
Festival Vilnius 2008. Marianela was the Official Delegate from the
Venezuelan Section and Emilio participated in his last year as Member
of the Presidential Council of the ISCM.
- Fundamental changes were accomplished to the
ISCM statutes, specially in regard to the Rules of Procedures for the
selection of works for program of the ISCM Festival, which guarantee
the inclusion of at least one work from the official submission, if
certain conditions are fulfilled. (See ISCM).
- The SVMC announces its new addition to the
exposure of Venezuelan composers through the Internet: the myspace link to Venezuelan
electronic music "electrosvmc".
